SUNAMGANJ, July 4, 2025 (BSS)- Two shops were fined Taka 35,000 for storing goods of expired date and giving customers less than actual weight.
Sunamganj District Administration and Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) jointly imposed the fine during a today.
The drive was conducted to raise awareness among the businesses and customers regarding expiry date of the goods and shortchanging.
Masum Traders was fined Taka 25,000 under the BSTI Act-2018 for producing and selling bread and biscuits without certification mark (CM) license. The shop was also fined Taka 5,000 under the 'Weights and Measures Standard Act-2018' for failing to mention the production date, net weight, and expiry date on the cover of the bread.
Anwar Mishtanno Bhandar’ was fined Taka 5,000 under the Weights and Measures Standard Act-2018 for not specifying the production date, net weight, and expiry date on the package of its fermented milk products.
