NAOGAON, June 21, 2025 (BSS) - District administration has constituted a committee to probe into the alleged leak of the question paper of the history subject of upcoming HSC examination begins on June 26 next.

However, the exam of the history second paper will be held as per schedule on July 19 with the alternative set of the question paper, officials said.

Authorities decided to cancel the first set as a packet containing 50 question papers was found open on Friday when it was under the custody of Dhamirhat Police Station.

Naogaon Police Super Mohammad Shafiul Sarwar said the question papers, in three trunks, were kept under lock and key in the female jail room of Dhamirhat thana on June 17.

It was alleged that an inmate of the jail managed to remove the seal of a trunk and open its lock to unwrap the question papers.

Subsequently she tore off a packet to see the materials inside. Later, she also tore some question papers into pieces which were seen in the CCTV footage.

Police recovered the packet from the jail in the next morning with all 50 question papers inside, some into pieces.

Immediately after the incident, a sub-inspector (SI) and a constable in charge of the jail were withdrawn and attached to the police line.

Naogaon Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Sadia Afrin said although some question papers were tore off but none was lost.

Two separate committees were constituted by the district administration and the district police to investigate into the incident, she said.

Chairman of Rajshahi Education Board Professor A N M Mofakhkharul Islam said the question papers are supposed to keep in the police station vault or warehouse. But, why the question papers were kept in the room of jail inmates should be investigated.
