RANGAMATI, June 10, 2025 (BSS) - The tourist town of Rangamati, which is dubbed as the daughter of the hills, a paradise of natural beauty, is now full of tourists.
After visiting the district's tourism complex and other recreation centres since Tuesday morning, it was seen that there is now a large gathering of tourists in every entertainment centre in Rangamati.
Besides, the Shuvolong Waterfall in Rangamati has also been decorated in a new way during the monsoon season, and other small waterfalls including Shuvolong have returned to their eternal beauty. Tourists from different parts of the country are also taking their families there in groups.
During this long holiday of Eid-ul-Azha, tourists from different parts of the country have started coming to the hills with their families. Hotel and motel owners said that 70-80 percent of the hotels and motels in various resorts are currently occupied.
Tourists are now flocking to various tourist spots in the district headquarters and various upazilas in the hills. Domestic and foreign tourists are now enjoying the pristine natural beauty of the hills with their families.
Everyone involved in tourism is happy that the tourists are coming to the hills in massive number after Eid.
Rangamati Tourism Holiday Complex Ghat Boat Owners Association Vice President Md. Ramzan Ali told BSS that tourists have started coming to Rangamati as expected from the day after Eid.
He said that everyone involved in tourism is happy with the increase in tourists.
Rangamati Tourism Holiday Complex Manager Alok Bikash Chakma told BSS that tourists from different districts of the country have started coming to Rangamati with their families since Eid.
Currently, tourists are staying in Rangamati as expected. He said that several thousand tourists have come to the Rangamati Tourism Hanging Bridge in the last few days.
He said that currently, the tourist complex rooms have been occupied fully.
In addition, it has been seen that 70 to 80 percent of the rooms in other hotels and motels in the city have been occupied by tourists. Those concerned are hopeful that the number of tourists may increase further in the next few days.
Md. Saiful Islam Nickel, owner of the local Hotel Hill Ambassador, told BSS that the arrival of tourists in Rangamati has increased a lot after Eid. Currently, most of the rooms in our hotel are booked.
We hope that this time our hotel and motel business will be very good after Eid.
Along with the district, various cottages and resorts in other upazilas are also bustling with tourists. Meanwhile, Md. Nasir Uddin, director of the resort Nisarga River Valley and Pod House in Kaptai upazila of the district told BSS that Nisarga River Valley is full of tourists during the Eid holidays.
There are 17 cottages here; each cottage is fully booked from before Eid till June 17.
Superintendent of Police, Rangamati Tourist Police Nihad Adnan Taian told BSS that the Tourist Police is working round the clock to provide overall security to tourists visiting the hills.
He said apart from the tourist spots in Rangamati, the Rangamati Tourist Police is also always by their side to provide security to tourists visiting Kaptai Lake.
Besides, the upazila administration has continued to provide round-the-clock assistance to tourists visiting various upazilas of the district.
For the entertainment of tourists visiting Rangamati, there are various tourist spots developed on the banks of Kaptai Lake, including the suspension bridge, Sukhi Nilganj and Polwel Parks run by the police department, DC Bungalow, the memorial of the great hero Munshi Abdur Rouf in Burighat, Naniar Upazila, Rajban Bihar, Kaptai Lake, Lake Paradise run by the Kaptai Navy's Shaheed Moazzem Base, Kaptai Silchhari Nisarga River Valley and Pod House, Shuvolong Jharna, Pedatingting, Tuktuk Eco Village, Bargi Lake, D-Vine Resort, Berainnya, Kaptai 41 BGB-run Wa Panorama Zoom Restaurant, Kaptai River View Park, Jeebtali Lakeshore and Lakeview Island run by the army, Floating Paradise, Banasree Tourism Centre, and various tourist spots developed on the banks of Kaptai Lake. Tourists from different parts of the country are overwhelmed by the natural beauty of the mountains.
In addition, the vast mountainous area of the border road area of Rangamati, which is adorned with natural beauty, has been newly connected for tourists. This border road area has to be reached via Rajasthali Upazila of the district.
If effective steps are taken to develop the tourism industry of Rangamati district, surrounded by natural beauty, including the development of new tourist spots in a planned manner by the government, the Chittagong Hill Tracts will generate a lot of revenue in the tourism sector, and the tourists visiting the hill district consider it the only tourism centre in the country.
