Rangpur draws massive tourists during Eid holidays

RANGPUR, June 10, 2025 (BSS) – Despite the intense heat wave, hundreds of people of all ages have been flocking to the district's amusement venues and tourist centres to enjoy the festive atmosphere since June 8, the day after Eid-ul-Azha.
 
Amidst the intense heat since the Eid-ul-Azha day, a relatively less comfortable atmosphere prevails in the district for the third consecutive day today, coupled with calm nature and scattered clouds in the sunny sky.
 
However, a festive crowd of people is being seen at tourist spots, entertainment centres, bridges built on rivers, parks and other attractive places across the district to enjoy the joy of the holy Eid-ul-Azha festival.
 
Many couples, teenagers and young men and women dressed in colourful summer clothes, are roaming around the entertainment venues, making the places crowded and lively, where the Eid atmosphere still prevails even on the third day after Eid. 
 
In Rangpur city, people are flocking to Chikley Lake Water Park, 'Proyas' Entertainment Park, Rangpur Amusement Park and Zoo, Fantasy Zone, 'Tajhat Zamindar Bari', 'Roopkatha Theme Park', 'Surovi Udyan', Town Hall premises, District School Grounds and other recreational places for refreshment and entertainment.
 
Hundreds of people are flocking to entertainment spots like ‘Vinnojagat’, Teesta Road Bridge and Teesta Rail Bridge, 'Nilambarer Jalmahal', 'Ananda Nagar', 'Maya Bhuban', 'Bharardaho Beel’, ‘Ali Baba Theme Park’ and Teesta Barrage canal and other areas outside the city.
 
Many people are flocking to the 'Teesta Park' located on the banks of the Teesta River in Kawnia upazila and restaurants located on the banks of the Teesta River at the north Kakina end of the Teesta Bridge  at Mohipur of Gangachara upazila.
 
To attract more visitors, all the entertainment venues have been colourfully decorated with a new look and entertainment flavour, amidst commendable security measures.
 
The boys, girls, students, youth and children, gather at these places with their parents where temporary fairs, various amusement rides for children and shops selling various handicrafts, food and toys have been set up.
 
School students Aklima, 14, Dilara, 15, Samina, 13, Mahbub, 15, Borhan, 14, and Abrar, 13, at different recreation centres said they are excited to enjoy the beauty of the place during the Eid vacation despite intense heat wave.
 
College and university level students Sumona, 20, Nuhara, 22, Moslema, 19, and Manjuara, 21, who visited Chikley Lake Water Park in Rangpur city, said they enjoyed riding sports and travelling on speed boats at the water park.
 
Couple Habibur Rahman and Shilpi Rahman, who visited the Rangpur Zoo, said they enjoyed riding the 'Nagordola' with their two school going sons,  Abed, 12, and Munna, 10, and learned a lot by observing various animals and birds there.
 
The couple had a lot of fun despite the intense heat wave while visiting Chikley Lake Water Park in Rangpur city with their children.
 
“The city’s Chikley Lake Water Park has become one of the most attractive places for hundreds of visitors to get pleasure from the magnificence of nature and share the pleasure of Eid-ul-Azha festivity,” said Habibur Rahman.
  
Mizanur Rahman, a businessman at the Teesta Road Bridge in Mohipur Ghat of Gangachara upazila, said he came there with his wife Munni Begum and two children to see the bridge, the river and enjoy the beauty of nature.
 
Similarly, female entrepreneurs Reshma Rahman and Farhana Haque, who visited the Teesta Railway Bridge in Kaunia Upazila with their husbands and children, said they enjoyed the beauty and natural splendour there despite the intense heat wave.
