Burmese python rescued in Sherpur

SHERPUR, May 21, 2025 (BSS) - Another Burmese python has been rescued today from behind a sweet shop in Dhobakura Bazar of Poragaon Union under Nalitabari upazila of the district.

Later, the python was released into the deep forest of Madhutila Eco Park.

Locals spotted the python behind a sweet shop in this morning and informed the Forest department. Forest officials immediately responded and rescued the snake.

Forest Officer of Madhutila Range Dewan Ali said, "Upon receiving the information, forest workers rescued the python unharmed."
He identified the snake as a rare species of Burmese python, approximately five feet long and of medium size. He also emphasized that it is a protected wild animal.

Earlier, a python of the same species was rescued from a paddy field in Mariamnagar village of Jhenaigati Upazila on May 17.
