NARAIL, March 4, 2025 (BSS) - The prices of vegetables saw a fresh decline in the markets in three upazilas of the district, bringing some sort of relief to the common people during the month of holly Ramadan.
A large number of vegetables including potatoes, gourds, brinjal, beans, tomato, radish, cauliflower and cabbage are available in the kitchen markets and prices have also come down.
Therefore, relief has returned to the low-income people of the district.
Currently, potatoes are being sold at different markets at Taka 20 per kg, beans at Taka 20 per kg, brinjal at Taka 30 to 40 per kg, gourds at Taka 20 to 30 per piece, sweet gourds at Taka 25 per kg, tomato at Taka 10 to 20 per kg, onion at Taka 40 per kg, garlic at Taka 100 per kg, cauliflower at Taka 10 per kg, cabbage at Taka 10 per kg and radishes at Taka 10 to 15 per kg.
Abu Bakker Biswas, a resident of Agdia village in Sadar upazila, said the market is now full of different types of vegetables, there is no shortage of vegetables and the prices also have come down.
Munsur Mia, a trader of Rupganj bazar of the district town, said that sufficient quantities of local vegetables are coming to the market every day and the price of those are within the purchasing capacity of the common people.
According to the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) this year vegetables have been cultivated on a total of 3,140 hectares of land in three upazilas of the district with a production target of 72,355 metric tonnes.
