Rangpur records 4.71pc Covid-19 positivity rate Sunday

   RANGPUR, Oct 24, 2021 (BSS) - Rangpur division recorded 4.71 percent
Covid-19 positivity rate as 13 fresh cases were reported after testing 276
new samples in the division on Sunday.

   Health officials said the coronavirus situation continues improving amid
declining positivity rate and rising recovery rate during the last two months
in the division.

   Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 2.38 percent on
Saturday, 10.40 percent on Friday, 0.38 percent on Thursday, 1.97 percent on
Wednesday, 2.56 percent on Tuesday and 2.72 percent on Monday last in the
division.

   Among the 13 new patients, two were reported positive after testing 88
samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in
Rangpur at the positivity rate of 2.27 percent today.

   "The two new Covid-19 infected patients include one each from Rangpur and
Kurigram districts," Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain said.
Principal of RpMC Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 5:35 pm.

   On the other hand, 11 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188
samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC)
in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 5.85 percent today.

   "The 11 new Covid-19 infected patients include six from Dinajpur, one from
Nilphamari and four from Thakurgaon districts," Principal of MARMC Professor
Dr Syed Nazir Hossain said.

   Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said
the number of Covid-19 patients rose to 55,278 as 13 new positive cases were
reported today from across the division.

   "The district-wise break up of total 55,278 patients include 12,458 of
Rangpur, 3,800 Panchagarh, 4,439 of Nilphamari, 2,738 of Lalmonirhat, 4,637
of Kurigram, 7,611 of Thakurgaon, 14,736 of Dinajpur and 4,859 of Gaibandha
in the division," he added.
