12 Jamaat-Shibir people held in Rajshahi

  RAJSHAHI, Oct 23, 2021 (BSS) - Police detained 12 Jamaat-Shibir members on

charge of their ill-motive to commit subversive activities and conspiracies
against the government in Rajshahi city last night.

   Police also seized zihadi books, banners for procession, member collection
forms and donation and toll collection books from their possessions.

   The arrested persons were identified as Monirul Islam, 50, Kalim Uddin,
68, Abdul Matin, 25, Abdul Momin, 25, Faisal Ahmed, 20, Ajahar Ali, 35, Abu
Bakkar, 42, Abdur Rab, 30, Uzzal Hossain, 34, Abdul Halim, 35, Muhammad
Obayed, 50, and Abul Hossain, 61.

   Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissioner Abu Kalam Siddique revealed this
while addressing a meet the press at his office conference hall today.

   He said the detained people were holding a secret meeting with an ulterior
motive to hatch anti-government conspiracies besides conducting subversive
activities.

   On a tip-off, a high-powered police team, including detectives, conducted
a sudden raid in a house at Palopara village under Paba Police Station around
7.05 pm and arrested them red-handed.

   A case was recorded with Paba Police Station in this connection, the
police commissioner added.
