Rangpur division records 2.02pc Covid-19 positivity rate

 RANGPUR, Oct 20, 2021 (BSS) - Rangpur division recorded 2.02

percent Covid-19 positivity rate as seven fresh cases were reported
after testing 347 new samples in the division today.

   Health officials said the coronavirus situation continues improving
amid declining positivity rate and rising recovery rate during the
last two months in the division.

  Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 2.56 percent on
Tuesday, 2.72 percent on Monday, 2.42 percent on Sunday, 3.29 percent
on Saturday, 5.32 percent on Friday and 2.24 percent on Thursday last
in the division.

  Among the seven new patients, four were reported positive after
testing 159 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical
College (RpMC) in Rangpur at the positivity rate of 2.52 percent
today.

  "The seven new Covid-19 infected patients include one each from
Rangpur, Kurigram, Gaibandha and Nilphamari districts," Principal of
MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain said. Principal of RpMC
Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS.

   On the other hand, three new patients were reported after
diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim
Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of
1.60 percent today.

  "The three new Covid-19 infected patients include two from Dinajpur
and one from Thakurgaon districts," Principal of MARMC Professor Dr
Syed Nazir Hossain said.

  Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said the number
of Covid-19 patients rose to 55,240 as seven new positive cases were
reported today from across the division.

  "The district-wise break up of total 55,240 patients include 12,446
of Rangpur, 3,800 Panchagarh, 4,437 of Nilphamari, 2,737 of
Lalmonirhat, 4,636 of Kurigram, 7,604 of Thakurgaon, 14,723 of
Dinajpur and 4,857 of Gaibandha in the division," he added.
