Covid-19 cases reach 97,730 with 30 afresh in Rajshahi division

   RAJSHAHI, Sept 20, 2021 (BSS) - 30 more people were tested positive for
Covid-19 in six districts of the division on Sunday, taking the caseload to
97,730 since the pandemic began in March last year.

   The new daily infection figure is the ever-lowest since the second wave of
the pandemic hit the country around six months back, while the previous day's
figure was 70, Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of Health,
said.

   Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 93,516 in the division after another
50 patients were discharged from the hospitals on the same day.

   The death toll reached 1,654, including 682 in Bogura, 311 in Rajshahi
with 187 in its city, and 172 in Natore, as no fresh case of fatality was
reported during the period, Dr Talukder added.

   Besides, all the positive cases for Covid-19 have, so far, been brought
under necessary treatment while 22,500 were kept in isolation units of
different dedicated hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 18,828
have been released.

   Meanwhile, 110 more people have been sent to home and institutional
quarantine afresh while 126 others were released from isolation during the
same time.

   Of the 30 new cases, eight were detected in Sirajganj, followed by seven
in Rajshahi city, five in Bogura, four each in Naogson and Pabna and two in
Joypurhat districts.

   With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total
cases now stands at 27,701 in Rajshahi, including 22,313 in city, 5,591 in
Chapainawabganj, 6,358 in Naogaon, 8,293 in Natore, 4,577 in Joypurhat,
21,392 in Bogura, 11,239 in Sirajganj and 12,579 in Pabna.

   A total of 1,12,113 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since
March 10 last year to prevent the community transmission of the deadly
coronavirus (COVID-19).

   Of them, 1,09,057 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance
certificates after completing their 14-day quarantine.
