NARAIL, Feb 25, 2024 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced a man to life term imprisonment in a drug case filed in Kalia Thana in 2012.

District Additional and Session Judge Muhammad Akram Hossain handed down the verdict to Torikul Islam, hailed from Monirampur Thana in Jashore district.

The court also fined him Taka 20,000, in default, he will have to suffer six months more in jail. 

According to the prosecution on December 28 in 2012, Torikul was held by police with 60 bottles of phensidyl at Pedli village under Kalia upazila. Following this incident police filed a case with Kalia Thana and later pressed the charge sheet against him. 

Testifying witnesses and evidences, the court gave the order, said Additional Public Prosecutor Shanjib Kumar Ghosh.
