CHATTOGRAM, Feb, 1, 2024 (BSS) - A Chattogram court today sentenced two
persons to life-term imprisonment for trading drugs in 2021.

Chattogram Fourth Metropolitan Additional Sessions Judge Shariful Alam
Bhuiyan handed down the verdict.

The convicts are Md Ismail, 43, and Md Redwan, 26, both hailed from Ukia
upazila under Cox's Bazar district.
 
The court also fined them Taka 10,000, in default, to suffer one-year
more in jail each.

The prosecution story, in brief, is that acting on a tip-off a team of RAB-7
detained Ismail and Redwan, with one lakh 37 thousand 550 pieces of
contraband items from city's Akthrurzaman Chowdhury Chattar area under
Karnaphuli thana on December 10 in 2021.

On the same day, Deputy Assistant Director of RAB Khaledur Rahman filed a
case with the thana against the alleged drug traders.
 
On January 20, in 2022, Karnaphuli Thana Police submitted the charge-sheet
before the court against them in the case while the court framed charges on
June 30, 2022.
 
The court announced the verdict in presence of the convicted persons after
examining a total of seven prosecution witnesses out of 16.
