CHATTOGRAM, Jan 29, 2024 (BSS) - A divisional special court of Chattogram has sentenced former assistant officer of National Credit and Commerce Bank limited for misappropriating Tk 1.2 crore.

ACC Divisional Special Judge Munshi Abdul Mozid, also fined Abdul Ahad Tk one crore, In default, he will have to serve one year in jail.

According to the case, the convict person misappropriated over Tk 1.2 crore from the depositors of National Credit and Commerce Bank Limited and transferred it to the account of his mother and sister in the name of depositing money.

Senior Principal officer of NCCB limited Abdul Mannan filed a case against him with Doublemooring thana on February 23 in 2013 while Anti Corruption Commission official Fakhrul Islam submitted charge sheet before the court on 12 August in 2021.

The court also framed charges against Abdul Ahad on 24 February in 2022.

The court pronounced the judgment after examining five prosecution's witnesses out of 11 in absence of convict person.
