KHULNA, Jan 22, 2024 (BSS) - Joytirmoy Mallick, an eminent rhymer of Bangla
literature and senior staff reporter of 'Dainik Purbanchal', a regional daily
newspaper of Khulna, died of old-age complications in the capital's Sir
Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospital early today.
 
He was 72.

He left behind his wife, a son and a daughter and a host of relatives and
admirers to mourn his death. He was cremated at Postogola Crematorium this
noon, family sources said.
 
Journalist Joytirmoy started his career as a staff reporter at the Khulna-
based weekly newspaper 'Janatar Dak' in 1974. He also worked as Khulna Bureau
Chief of the 'News Express bd.com,' defunct the 'Daily Banglar Bani' and a
contributor to the defunct 'Weekly Bichitra.' He wrote many rhyming books for
children.
 
Joytirmoy was the former General Secretary of Khulna Union of Journalists
(KUJ), a former executive member of Bangladesh Federal Journalists Union and
a member of Khulna Press Club (KPC).
 
Land Minister Narayan Chandra Chanda, Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC)
Talukder Abdul Khaleque, Member of Parliament (MP) Sheikh Salah Uddin Jwel,
executive bodies of KPC, KUJ and Swadhinata Sangbadik Forum, expressed their
deep shock at the death of Journalist-rhymer Joytirmoy Mallick.
 
In separate massages, they also conveyed their heartfelt sympathy to the
members of the bereaved family.
