Rangpur division records 10.77pc Covid-19 positivity rate

 

 

RANGPUR, Sept 2, 2021 (BSS) – Rangpur division recorded 10.77 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 39 fresh cases were reported after testing 362 newly collected samples of the division today.

“The Covid-19 situation is improving during the last more than three weeks in the division,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui told BSS.

Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 12.04 percent on Wednesday, 12.08 percent on Tuesday, 16.05 percent on Monday, 11.66 percent on Sunday, 12.60 percent on Saturday and 18.44 percent on Friday last in the division.   

Among the 39 new patients, 15 were reported positive after diagnosing 174 newly collected samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city at the highest ever daily positivity rate of 8.62 percent today.

“The 15 new patients include five from Rangpur, six from Gaibandha, two from Kurigram and one each from Panchagarh and Nilphamari districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 7 pm.

On the other hand, 24 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 12.77 percent today.

“The 24 new Covid-19 infected patients include 16 from Dinajpur and four each from Thakurgaon and Panchagarh districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain said.

Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said the number of Covid-19 patients rose to 53,419 as 39 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of total 53,419 patients stands at 12,156 in Rangpur, 3,508 in Panchagarh, 4,325 in Nilphamari, 2,674 in Lalmonirhat, 4,530 in Kurigram, 7,228 in Thakurgaon, 14,313 in Dinajpur and 4,685 in Gaibandha of the division,” Dr Islam said.
