DHAKA, Sept 9, 2026 (BSS) - Authorities at the Hili Land Customs Station in Dinajpur today destroyed confiscated and expired perishable goods worth around Tk 1 million following due legal procedures.

The goods were destroyed at a designated site adjacent to the Goahara cremation ground under Hakimpur (Hili) municipality around noon, said a press release.

A total of 2,175 GR-listed perishable goods were destroyed in accordance with the National Board of Revenue (NBR) Standing Order No. 40/Customs/2026, issued on August 17.

The destruction was carried out by a committee formed under the overall supervision of the Joint Commissioner of Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate, Rangpur, in the presence of representatives of the relevant government agencies.

Customs authorities said the destroyed items included around 1.5 metric tons of food products, tobacco products, cosmetics and other perishable goods. The estimated value of the goods was around Tk 1 million.

The goods were destroyed at the site designated by Hakimpur (Hili) municipality using a bulldozer and excavator supplied by the municipality. They were subsequently buried following proper health and hygiene procedures.
