BFTI, ERF inks MoU to strengthen trade, economic discourse

DHAKA, Sept 9, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI) and the Economic Reporters' Forum (ERF) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen institutional cooperation in trade, economics, research, training and knowledge sharing.

The MoU was signed at the conference room of BFTI at TCB Bhaban at Karwan Bazar in the city, said a press release.

BFTI Chief Executive Officer Dr Mostafa Abid Khan and ERF President Doulot Akter Mala signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.

Under the MoU, the two organizations will jointly organize seminars, workshops, roundtables, conferences and other knowledge-sharing programmes focusing on trade, economic and business issues.

Speaking at the ceremony, Doulot Akter Mala said the initiative would help strengthen the professional skills and capacity of economic reporters.

She said BFTI and ERF would also arrange dialogues and interactions involving policymakers, trade experts, business leaders, researchers and media professionals.

Dr Mostafa Abid Khan said the MoU provides a framework for undertaking collaborative research, seminars, workshops and other activities on trade and economic issues of mutual interest.

He said the two institutions would leverage their respective expertise, networks and institutional strengths to promote informed, evidence-based and constructive discourse on Bangladesh's trade and economic development.

Following the signing, Dr Mostafa Abid Khan and Doulot Akter Mala exchanged the signed copies of the MoU.
