DHAKA, Sept 5, 2026 (BSS)- Community Bank Bangladesh PLC today organised cleanliness and tree plantation programmes at two educational institutions in the capital as part of its 'Community Bank Clean Dhaka Project', aiming to promote a clean, green and liveable Bangladesh.

Held under the theme "Amar Shahor, Amar Desh-- Poricchonnotay Bodle Zabe Bangladesh", the programmes took place at Viqarunnisa Noon School and College and Rajarbagh Police Lines School and College, said a press release.

Around 500 students and teachers, along with officials and employees of the bank, participated in the programmes. Students joined cleanliness drives on the campuses and surrounding areas and took part in planting saplings of different species.

Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Md. Abdus Salam, Inspector General of Police and Chairman of Community Bank Bangladesh PLC Md. Ali Hossain Fakir, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, BPM (Sheba), and Managing Director (MD) of Community Bank Bangladesh PLC Mohammed Emtiaz Uddin attended the programmes, along with senior police officials, bank directors, principals of the institutions and other distinguished
guests.

Speaking at the event, IGP Md. Ali Hossain Fakir stressed the importance of engaging the younger generation in cleanliness, tree plantation, environmental conservation, drug prevention and maintaining law and order.

"Cleanliness and greenery are among the key prerequisites for a beautiful and liveable city. It is not enough to keep roads, streets and our surroundings clean; we must plant more trees to make our cities greener and take care of every tree we plant," he said.

IGP Fakir said a tree helps maintain environmental balance while ensuring clean air, shade and a better environment for future generations.

"The practice of cleanliness and greenery must become part of our personal lives and social behaviour. If everyone keeps the environment clean, plants at least one tree and takes care of it from their respective positions, we can collectively build a green and liveable Bangladesh," he added.

Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Md. Abdus Salam said the disruption of the balance of nature has resulted in adverse changes in the natural environment.

"There is no alternative to planting trees if we want to protect our country and nature," he said, urging the younger generation to engage in social activities to stay away from drugs.

DMP Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed said collective efforts are needed to build a clean Dhaka, stressing the importance of involving young people in such social initiatives.

Community Bank Managing Director Mohammed Emtiaz Uddin called for initiating positive change from within oneself.

"We must remember that change will never come if we keep waiting for it to begin with someone else. We have to start the change with ourselves. If I change, my family will change. If my family changes, my society will change. And if we all change, Bangladesh will change," he said.

He called upon all to work together to build a clean city and a greener Bangladesh through tree plantation, while stressing the role of young people in environmental conservation, cleanliness and public awareness.

As part of the initiative, 20 dustbins, 20 shovels and 20 brooms were provided to each of the two institutions. Twelve fruit-bearing, timber, medicinal and flowering trees were also planted at each institution.

Kamrul Ahsan; Additional DIG, Bangladesh Police Kallyan Trust and Director Ahmad Muyeed, BPM (Sheba); Inspector and Director Kamrul Hasan Talukdar; Independent Directors Syed Rafiqul Haque, Syed Rafiqul Haq and Mohammed Tofazzal Hussain FCA were present, among others.

Acting Principal of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College Mazeda Begum and Acting Principal of Rajarbagh Police Lines School and College Ahmed Seheli Naznin also attended the programmes.

Community Bank said it considers the active participation of the younger generation in cleanliness, environmental conservation, greenery and social awareness against drugs as an important foundation for building a beautiful, safe and liveable Bangladesh.

The bank reaffirmed that it would continue such initiatives as part of its commitment to social responsibility, environmental conservation, public awareness and positive social change.
