ICMAB organises special session on cashless ecosystem

DHAKA, Sept 5, 2026 (BSS) - The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) has organised a special session titled "Meet the Flag Bearers of CMA Profession" alongside a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) session on "A Cashless Ecosystem for Financial Inclusion".

The event, held on Thursday at the ICMAB Ruhul Quddus Auditorium in Nilkhet here, honoured two distinguished CMA professionals, according to a press release issued today.

They were Md Mostaqur Rahman, Governor of Bangladesh Bank, and Md Abdur Rahman Khan, Alternate Executive Director of the World Bank and former chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR).

They were presented with sashes, mementos, and gifts for their outstanding national and international contributions to the profession.

ICMAB President Md Kausar Alam delivered the presidential address, while Vice-President S M Zahir Uddin Haider welcomed the guests. ICMAB Secretary Monjur Md Shaiful Azam offered the vote of thanks. 

At the CPD session, Dr Md Touhidul Alam Khan, Managing Director and CEO of NRBC Bank PLC, presented the keynote paper.

He highlighted the potential of Bangla QR, MFS, and interoperable payment infrastructures to ensure economic transparency and accountability and bring underserved communities into the formal financial system.

Subhash Chandra Das FCMA, Deputy Managing Director of BASIC Bank PLC, and Arif Khan, Vice Chairman of Shanta Asset Management Ltd., joined the session as commentators.

The two honourees, Md Abdur Rahman Khan and Md Mostaqur Rahman, shared their insights, noting that digital literacy, cybersecurity, affordability, and consumer trust are vital for a successful cashless transformation in rural areas.

The programme was attended by ICMAB past presidents, council members, fellow and associate members, and invited guests.
