DHAKA, Sept 3, 2026 (BSS) — The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) today held a stakeholder consultation meeting on the draft “Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (Direct Listing of Securities by Stock Exchange) Rules, 2026”, aimed at creating an alternative avenue for eligible companies to get listed on the stock exchanges.
The draft rules have been approved by the commission for publication, and stakeholders were invited to provide their views and recommendations on the proposed regulations, according to a BSEC press release.
BSEC Chairman Masud Khan chaired the meeting held at the commission’s office in the capital.
Representatives of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), Bangladesh Association of Publicly Listed Companies (BAPLC), listed companies, merchant banks, stockbrokers and other stakeholders took part in the consultation.
Participants discussed various aspects of the proposed direct-listing framework, including the eligibility of companies, disclosure requirements, transparency, investor protection and the overall listing process.
The stakeholders also provided suggestions on how the proposed rules could facilitate the listing of financially sound and well-managed companies while ensuring adequate safeguards for investors.
The BSEC chairman said direct listing could create an opportunity for eligible companies to enter the capital market and provide investors with access to shares of such companies.
He also emphasized the need for an effective and transparent mechanism to ensure that the interests of investors are protected under the proposed system.
The commission said it is considering stakeholders' opinions in finalising the draft rules and expects the proposed framework to contribute to further development and deepening of the country's capital market.
