DHAKA, Sept 3, 2026 (BSS) - The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Bangladesh Office organised the KOICA-NGO Partnership Enhancement Workshop 2026 here today, bringing together representatives of partner organisations to promote peer learning, knowledge exchange and community-led sustainable development.

Representatives from ADRA, Global Care, Heart to Heart Foundation, Oxfam, Save the Children, Concern Worldwide and KOICA's local partner Jagrata Juba Shanga (JJS) participated in the workshop, while BRAC joined as a guest organisation.

The workshop aimed to facilitate the exchange of experiences among participating organisations and promote locally led solutions and stronger community ownership to ensure the sustainability of development interventions.

The event also marked the conclusion of a peer-learning process under which the participating organisations visited one another's projects and field-level interventions.

During the workshop, participants shared key lessons from the field visits, along with their own experiences and good practices. The discussions provided an opportunity to learn from diverse community-based approaches and explore ways to adapt and integrate those experiences to make development initiatives more relevant, responsive and sustainable.

A participant said the peer-learning experience had broadened their understanding of community-led approaches and generated new ideas to better respond to the needs of the communities they serve.

The initiative is part of KOICA's broader efforts in Bangladesh to support sustainable economic growth and improve the socio-economic environment through inclusive and locally responsive development approaches.

The participating organisations work in a range of sectors, including health, education, climate resilience, livelihoods and social development.

In his remarks, KOICA Bangladesh Country Director Jihoon Kim said KOICA seeks to bring together the strengths of civil society and diverse stakeholders to achieve more effective, sustainable and inclusive development outcomes in Bangladesh.

He underscored the importance of sustaining successful approaches beyond the project period by strengthening community ownership and local capacities, while developing stronger linkages with government institutions, local governments and other relevant stakeholders.

Deputy Country Director Hyunwoo Yang highlighted KOICA's evolving development cooperation priorities and strategic direction in Bangladesh, including upcoming areas of engagement and project initiatives.

Deputy Country Director Sujin Kong also participated in the discussions and exchange of experiences among the organisations.
