DHAKA, Dec 17, 2025 (BSS) - The Sammilito Islami Bank PLC held its inaugural Board Meeting today, chaired by Dr. Mohammad Aiyub Mia, the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
 
The meeting was attended by key government officials serving as directors, including Dr. Hafiz Ahmed Chowdhury, Secretary of the Legislative Division, Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs; Md. Saifullah Panna, Secretary of the Chief Adviser’s Office; Md. Kamal Uddin, Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs; and Md. Shahriar Kader Siddiqui, Secretary of the Economic Relations Division, Ministry of Finance.
 
Directors Mohammad Rashedul Amin and Sheikh Farid, both joint secretaries of the Ministry of Finance, were also present.
 
Upon the invitation of the board, senior officials from the central bank participated, including Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Monsur, Deputy Governor Dr. Md. Kabir Ahammed, and Executive Director of the Bank Resolution Department (BRD) Md. Rafiqul Islam.
 
The directors and officials of the Bangladesh Bank's BRD, along with the administrators of the five banks currently under resolution, also attended the meeting.
 
During the session, the directors were informed about the various steps taken under the resolution framework. The Board subsequently adopted various decisions regarding future activities unanimously.
 
Governor Dr. Monsur called upon the Board of Directors and all attendees to expedite the resolution activities, emphasizing the need to place the highest importance on the interests of the depositors.
 
 The Board agreed with the Governor, pledging that the Sammilito Islami Bank would afford maximum priority to protecting the interests of the depositors.
