DHAKA, Nov 24, 2025 (BSS) - The premier bourse of the country today notched a significant rebound as opportunistic investors turned back to the market amid the market's recent recovery streak, defying uncertainties surrounding the market momentum and propelling the benchmark index back toward the 5,000-mark after three weeks.
DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, surged by 109.1 points and settled at 5,025 points as against 4,916 points in the previous trading session.
Market indices maintained an upward trajectory throughout the session, supported by broad-based price appreciation across most scrips, gradually adding strength to the market’s uptrend as the session progressed.
Meanwhile, market turnover also increased by 64.8% to a 1.5-month high Taka 6.4 billion from Taka 3.9 billion in the previous session.
On the sectoral front, Textile (16.6%) accounted for the highest share of turnover, followed by Engineering (13.3%) and Pharmaceuticals (11.4%). Almost all the sectors displayed positive returns, out of which IT (5.4%), Mutual Fund (4.8%) and Paper (4.7%) exhibited the most positive returns on the bourse today.
Of the 397 issues traded, 356 advanced, 22 declined, and 19 remained unchanged.
The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on a positive zone. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) advanced by 132.2 points and 234.3 points, respectively.
