T-Aman harvesting going on in full-swing in Netrakona

  NETRAKONA, Nov 30, 2021 (BSS) - The harvesting of T-Aman rice is going on
in full swing in all the ten upazilas of the district, widely known as rice
surplus area in the country.

  Farmers are passing busy times with harvesting the paddy in festive mood.

  The growers and crop specialists of the department of agricultural
extension (DAE) here are expecting bumper production after getting better
yield.

   DAE office sources said a total of 1, 30,200 hectors of land were brought
under T-Aman cultivation in the district this year.

  Of the total land, 5850 hectors of land were brought under hybrid variety
of the crop, 1, 07,498 hectors under high yielding variety (HYV) and 16,852
hectors under local variety.

  DAE Deputy Director FM Mubarak Ali told BSS that bumper production of the
T-Aman rice is likely to be achieved by the farmers as they are getting
better output.

  He said the farmers are getting hybrid variety of rice in an average 3.8
tonnes per hector, HYV variety 2.9 tonnes and local variety 1.8 tonnes per
hector.

  The cultivators are getting better production rate as the weather condition
remained favorable and the government ensured proper supply of improved
quality seeds, fertilizers and other agricultural equipment at the door-steps
of the farmers, he said.

  The government also disbursed loan among the farmers through state-run
banks including Bangladesh Krishi Bank to make Aman rice cultivation
sussessfull.

  Apart from this, the filed-level officials and crops specialists of the DAE
extended their field-level service round the clock to let the farmers know
about the modern methods of Aman cultivation through using latest
technologies, the deputy director added.
