DHAKA, Aug 31, 2026 (BSS) - Ahead of the upcoming Asian Para Games, National 
Sports Council (NSC) Director (Sports) Mohammad Zahid Parvez Chowdhury and 
Director (Administration) Titon Khisa today (Monday) visited the ongoing 
preparatory training camp being conducted under the supervision of the 
National Paralympics Committee of Bangladesh (NPC).

The two NSC officials made an unannounced visit to the para-athletes' ongoing 
training activities at the National Stadium.

During the visit, they spoke with the athletes participating in the camp and 
enquired about the progress of their training, the nature of their 
preparations and the facilities available at the camp. They also encouraged 
and motivated the athletes to achieve the best possible results for the 
country at the Asian Para Games.

NPC Bangladesh Vice-President Md. Sanowar Hossain, Secretary General Dr. 
Maruf Ahmed Mridul, Deputy Secretary General Md. Hedayetul Aziz and Executive 
Member Md. Anwar Kabir Chowdhury, along with other senior officials of the 
organisation, were present during the visit.

National Sports Council Director (Sports) Mohammad Zahid Parvez Chowdhury 
praised the para-athletes for their hard work, discipline, dedication and 
commitment.

"Alongside regular training, confidence, discipline and strong mental 
determination are extremely important for achieving success at the 
international level," he said.

He urged the athletes to overcome adversity and compete to the best of their 
abilities.

NSC Director (Administration) Titon Khisa enquired about the overall 
management and facilities at the training camp. He also assured the athletes 
of the necessary cooperation and support to make their training activities 
more effective.

During the visit, Zahid Parvez highlighted the government's patronage and 
support for the development of sports in the country.

He expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and State 
Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque, saying, "The government's 
continued support and patronage will play an important role in boosting the 
confidence of para-athletes."

He also highlighted various government initiatives aimed at further advancing 
para-sports in the country.
