DHAKA, Aug 2, 2026 (BSS)—The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially launched its newly formed Under-23 programme  with a training camp that began at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on August 1.

The Under-23 division has been introduced to bridge the gap between the Under-19 and High Performance (HP) programmes, providing promising cricketers aged between 19 and 23 with a structured pathway to senior cricket.

The programme operates under the BCB's Game Development Committee, with some former Bangladesh cricketers and coach Naveed Newaz leading the coaching setup.

The coaching staff includes Alamgir Kabir, Simon Hossain, James, Bappi and Joy Saha.

As part of the initiative, the BCB has arranged a bilateral series against Malaysia's Under-23 side. Ahead of the three-match one-day series, Bangladesh's Under-23 cricketers will be split into two teams to play two T20 matches against each other as part of their preparation.

The two practice T20 matches are scheduled to be held in Mirpur on August 8 and 10, while the three-match one-day series against Malaysia will be played at the Bashundhara Cricket Ground.
