BCB pledges support for flood victims

DHAKA, July 13, 2026 (BSS) -The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has pledged to
stand by people affected by the ongoing floods that have inundated several
districts, including Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Bandarban, following days of
heavy rainfall.

Continuous downpours have submerged many roads in Chattogram, disrupting
daily life and causing widespread public suffering. Several educational
institutions have suspended classes and examinations due to severe
waterlogging, while floodwaters have left millions of people stranded across
the affected regions.

BCB President Tamim Iqbal, who is currently in Edinburgh, announced the
board's commitment to supporting flood victims through a Facebook post today.

"Many areas of the country, including Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Bandarban,
are now flooded. Millions of people are trapped by floodwaters. Countless
people are spending their days in uncertainty and fear. We express our
solidarity with everyone affected by this disaster," Tamim wrote.

He added that the BCB would extend all possible assistance to those affected.

"We will certainly do whatever we can from the BCB to help the flood victims.
I hope this disaster passes quickly. Until then, I urge people from all walks
of life to unite and stand by those in need, contributing whatever they can
within their means," he said.
