DHAKA, Aug 25, 2026 (BSS) — Bangladesh national hockey team recorded an overwhelming 9-2 goals victory over the national Under-20 side in a practice match held today (Tuesday) at Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium in the capital.

The experienced senior side dominate proceedings and underline their strength ahead of their upcoming assignments.

Ashraful Islam was the standout performer for the senior side, scoring four goals on his own.

Amirul, Rocky, Emon, Mahbub and experienced star Rashel Mahmud Jimmy scored one goal each to complete the senior team’s nine-goal victory. 

Despite falling well behind, the Under-20 team continued to fight and made a strong attempt to stage a late comeback. Young forward Abhi was the main source of resistance for the junior side, scoring two excellent late goals to reduce the deficit.

The practice match also provided both teams’ coaches with a valuable opportunity to assess the players’ fitness, weaknesses and tactical positioning ahead of their respective upcoming assignments.
