DHAKA, July 9, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh conceded the three-match ODI series with 
a match to spare after suffering a 13-run defeat to Zimbabwe in the second 
ODI at the Harare Sports Club today.

Chasing 248 for victory, Bangladesh were bowled out for 234 in 48.1 overs, 
continuing their batting struggles after also losing the opening ODI by 25 
runs.

Towhid Hridoy top-scored with 60 while opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim made 57, but 
both innings came at a cautious pace, allowing Zimbabwe to claw their way 
back into the contest.

Zimbabwe captain Richard Ngarava led the fightback with 3-55 after Bangladesh 
appeared to be cruising.

Blessing Muzarabani struck early by removing Soumya Sarkar for 5 before 
fellow pacer Brad Evans dismissed Najmul Hossain Shanto for 9, reducing 
Bangladesh to 38-2.

Tanzid and Hridoy rebuilt the innings with an 84-run stand for the third 
wicket to put Bangladesh in a commanding position.

Brian Bennett ended the partnership by dismissing Tanzid, who struck five 
fours and a six in his 70-ball 57.

Hridoy then added 47 runs with Nurul Hasan Sohan, who contributed 38, before 
Wessly Madhevere broke the stand by removing the Bangladesh batter.
 

Ngarava dealt Bangladesh a decisive blow by dismissing Sohan and Mosaddek 
Hossain Saikat in quick succession to trigger a middle-order collapse.

Although captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz fought until the end, Bangladesh 
ultimately fell 13 runs short as Muzarabani and Evans wrapped up the innings.

Earlier, fast bowler Taskin Ahmed gave Bangladesh a dream start, striking 
twice inside the opening three overs to leave Zimbabwe reeling at 8-2.

Nahid Rana, who claimed a Bangladesh record 6-21 in the first ODI despite the 
defeat, then removed captain Craig Ervine with a fiery delivery as Zimbabwe 
slipped to 32-3.

Opener Ben Curran anchored the recovery with an unbeaten 111 off 135 balls, 
hitting nine fours.

Curran first shared a steady partnership with Wessly Madhevere, who scored 15 
before Miraz broke the stand with Zimbabwe on 66-4.

Sikandar Raza then contributed 33 in a 68-run fifth-wicket partnership with 
Curran before Miraz struck again.

Leg-spinner Rishad Hossain dismissed Clive Madande for 4, reducing Zimbabwe 
to 148-6 and raising Bangladesh's hopes of restricting the hosts to a below-
par total.

Those hopes were dashed by Brad Evans, who blasted an unbeaten 58 off just 38 
deliveries, smashing two fours and five sixes.

Evans and Curran added an unbroken 99 runs for the seventh wicket as Zimbabwe 
plundered 60 runs in the final five overs. Taskin conceded 22 runs in the 
last over as the hosts finished on 247-6.

Taskin ended with 2-57, while Miraz claimed 2-32. Nahid Rana and Rishad 
Hossain took one wicket apiece.

The defeat followed Bangladesh's innings and 85-run loss in the preceding 
one-off Test, extending a disappointing tour of Zimbabwe.
