DHAKA, July 4, 2026 (BSS)—Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has launched its preparations for the 2028 ICC Under-19 World Cup by organizing a 21-day skill development camp for 30 young cricketers, beginning on Sunday at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan (BKSP).
The camp marks the first major step in rebuilding the youth side after Bangladesh's disappointing campaign in the 2026 ICC Under-19 World Cup, where Azizul Hakim Tamim's team was eliminated in the second round.
The selected players will undergo intensive training in batting, bowling and fielding under newly appointed head coach Hannan Sarkar, who succeeded Naveed Newaz after the latter's contract expired.
Pace bowling coach Dollar Mahmud and fielding coaches Mohammad Selim and Arshad Khan will also oversee the training programme.
The BCB has already completed this season's Youth Cricket League, while another training programme involving 45 players is currently being held in Khulna as part of its broader youth development strategy.
The board is using the camp to identify and groom players capable of forming the core of Bangladesh's squad for the 2028 ICC Under-19 World Cup, with a focus on long-term skill development and preparation.
