Tahsin finishes 5th place

DHAKA, July 3, 2026 (BSS)- Bangladesh's FIDE Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia finished fifth place at the Vojvodina Open 2026 Fourth International Chess Festival held in Novi Sad, Vojvodina, Serbia.

FM Tahsin scored six points from nine rounds and finished in a tie for third place. However, he was ultimately ranked fifth after the tie-break system was applied.

In the ninth and final round game held on Thursday, FM Tahsin held Polish Grandmaster Jacek Stopa to a draw.
 
Earlier, in the eighth round game played on Wednesday night (Bangladesh time), he also drew with India's Candidate Master Kushagra Jain.

Russia's Artem Erokhin claimed the championship title with seven points, while his compatriot, International Master Zaur Tekeyev, secured the runner-up position with the same score after their position was decided by tie-
breaking system.

Category A of the Vojvodina Open 2026 featured a strong field of fifty two players from sixteen countries, including six Grandmasters, nine International Masters and five FIDE Masters.

In recognition of his outstanding performance, FIDE Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia was awarded a cash prize of €500.
