Dhaka, June 25, 2026 (BSS)-The 9th National Men's Baseball championship begins tomorrow (Friday) at the Bangladesh Ansar Academy in Safipur, Gazipur.
Director General of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud is expected to inaugurate the meet as the chief guest.
The three-day tournament, organized by Bangladesh Baseball-Softball Association (BBSA), aims to promote the expansion of baseball in Bangladesh, develop talented players, and strengthen competitive baseball at the national level.
Recognized as the country's most prestigious baseball competition on the national calendar, the championship will feature top players representing districts, forces teams and clubs from across the country.
The organizers believe the event will inject fresh momentum into Bangladesh's baseball arena and play a significant role in identifying promising players for future national team selection.
A total of 14 teams will participate in this year's championship.
The participating teams are Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Ansar, Dhaka District, Narayanganj District, Chattogram Baseball Club, Bagerhat District, Joypurhat Club, Naogaon District, Sand Angel Baseball-Softball Club, Chapainawabganj District, Savar Community Club, Munshiganj District, Bogura District and Joypurhat District.
The championship is expected to showcase emerging talents and contribute to the continued growth of baseball in Bangladesh.
The championship will be held under a single-elimination knockout format. The champion and runner-up teams from the 8th National Men's Baseball Championship have been awarded the No. one and No. two seeds respectively and received byes in the opening round.
The positions of the remaining teams in the tournament bracket were determined through an open draw conducted by the organizers.
The Bangladesh Baseball-Softball Association (BBSA) believes that the Championship will play a significant role in improving the standard of baseball in the country, discovering new talent, and developing players capable of competing at the international level.
With participation from district teams, forces teams, and clubs from across the country, the championship is expected to further enhance the popularity of baseball nationwide. Organizers also hope the tournament will help strengthen the foundation for Bangladesh's future success on the international stage by creating a larger pool of skilled and competitive players.
The champions will receive Taka 50,000 while the runners-up and third place finishers will have Taka 25,000 and Taka 15,000 respectively. Besides, the fourth place finishers will get Taka 10,000.
In this regards, a press conference was held at the conference room of Nationa hockey stadium to provide all the details of the meet.
