DHAKA, May 23, 2026 (BSS) — Bangladesh Test captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto marked his return to the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) with a match-winning century as Abahani Limited secured a comfortable victory in the seventh round of the competition today.
Fresh from leading Bangladesh to a Test series win over Pakistan, Nazmul struck an unbeaten 108 off 90 deliveries, featuring seven fours and as many sixes, to guide Abahani to a nine-wicket win over Agrani Bank at the ULAB ground. Mahidul Islam Ankon contributed 56 as Abahani chased down a target of 179 in 31.4 overs.
Mohammedan Sporting Club also bolstered their position at the top of the table with a dominant 237-run victory over Gulshan Club at BKSP.
Batting first, Mohammedan posted 345-9 in 50 overs, thanks to Towhid Hridoy’s 86 off 77 balls and Mushfiqur Rahim’s 72 from 62 deliveries. In reply, Gulshan Club were bowled out for 108 runs, giving Mohammedan its sixth victory.
Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam claimed five wickets in 9.2 overs, registering his fourth five-wicket haul in List A cricket. Fast bowler Ebadot Hossain returned to league action after the Pakistan Test series and conceded 24 runs in seven overs without taking a wicket.
Mohammedan now lead the standings with 12 points from seven matches, having won six games.
In another match, City Club defeated Prime Bank Cricket Club by 19 runs. Veteran batter Enamul Haque scored his maiden century in List A cricket at the age of 40, reaching the milestone in his 96th match since debuting in 2013. His 103 off 97, which included six fours and five sixes helped City Club post 266-7.
Prime Bank managed 247-9 in reply despite Azizul Hakim Tamim’s 95-run effort, while Enamul Haque Ashiq claimed five wickets.
At BKSP, Bashundhara Strikers edged Brothers Union by seven runs in a high-scoring contest. Fazle Mahmud starred with 132 off 113 balls before retiring hurt as the Strikers posted 324 before being all out. Brothers finished on 317- 9 in their chase.
Meanwhile, Legends of Rupganj registered a seven-wicket win over Gazi Group Cricketers in Mirpur. Chasing 211, Rupganj rode on Irfan Shukkur’s explosive 127 off 75 balls before he retired hurt.
With four rounds remaining, Mohammedan, Abahani Limited, Legends of Rupganj and Prime Bank remain firmly in contention for the coveted title.
