Over 1,000 to join int'l half marathon 'One Run' tomorrow

DHAKA, May 22, 2026 (BSS) - More than 1,000 running enthusiasts from Bangladesh and other countries are set to participate in the international half marathon "One Run", scheduled to be held in Hatirjheel, Dhaka tomorrow.

The event will be held for the second consecutive year in Bangladesh with the local organizer GamePlay Limited, under the global initiative of "One Run" by Russian Hero League, said a press release.

Participants will be able to compete across four race categories - 1 km, 5 km, 10 km and 21.1 km half marathon - making the event open to both beginners and experienced runners.

The race route will be set around Hatirjheel, covering key city landmarks, including Police Plaza, Rampura bridge, Lake Road and FDC. The starting point, finishing line and fan zone will be located in the Amphitheatre area of Hatirjheel.

A group of Russian community living Bangladesh and also citizen from other countries participating this one run, which offers a unique opportunity to spend an active weekend with family or friends, or to meet like-minded individuals, experiencing their first official race, or setting a personal record.

On the same day, the event will be held simultaneously in 38 countries, including Russia, China, Brazil, Venezuela, Serbia, Belarus, Tanzania, Malaysia, Nepal, Thailand, Morocco, Tunisia, Kazakhstan, Maldives, Chile and Armenia, among others. 

More than 2,50,000 participants globally are expected to join the event under the shared slogan, "One Run, One Goal, One World." Chuti is the title sponsor of One Run Bangladesh and it is powered by Duronto Sports Gallery. 

The closing and prize giving ceremony will be held after the race at Hatirjheel Amphitheater. 

State Minister of Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque is expected to present on the occasion as the chief guest. 

The event will be more exciting with the presence of youth icon and sports patron of Bangladesh Zaima Rahman, daughter of Prime Minister of Bangladesh. The ambassadors from Russia and Malaysia will also attend in the ceremony.

The "One Run" half marathon (known as "ZaBeg.RF" in Russia) originated in Russia in 2017 and has gradually expanded into a global event, now held across dozens of countries under a synchronized format.
