BCB installs honours board for women cricketers

DHAKA, May 19, 2026 (BSS)-The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has finally
introduced a separate honours board for the country's women cricketers at the
Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, acknowledging their
contributions to Bangladesh cricket.

Last year, the BCB installed honours boards for male cricketers featuring
players who represented Bangladesh in Tests and ODIs. The absence of a
similar recognition for female cricketers had sparked disappointment among
members of the women's team.

Current BCB ad-hoc committee President Tamim Iqbal announced the development
through a Facebook post today.

"These two honours boards have the names of our national cricketers, who have
played for Bangladesh in Women's ODIs and T20Is, engraved with pride," Tamim
wrote.

An honours board for the men's team had already been placed on one side of
the entrance wall of the main building at the Mirpur stadium. Following
discussions with women cricketers, the BCB decided to install a corresponding
board for the women's team on the opposite side.

Tamim said the women cricketers deserved the same recognition as their male
counterparts.

"Whether it is the women's team or the men's team, all are international
cricketers, all represent Bangladesh, all deserve this honor. Together, we
are Bangladesh cricket," he added.
