DHAKA, May 18, 2026 (BSS) - Footballers Hamza Choudhury and Rituporna Chakma alongside hockey player Amirul Islam have been shortlisted for the BSPA Sports Award 2025.

Hamza and Rituporna were also shortlisted in the popular choice award 2025 alongside cricketer Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Amirul Islam.

The names of the winners of these two categories will be announced through a gala sports award ceremony which will be held on Friday (May 22) at a city hotel.

State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque and Square Toiletries Limited managing director Anjan Chowdhury will present in the ceremony as the chief guests.

This year a total of fourteen current and former athletes, organizers and association will be awarded in fifteen categories in the sports award ceremony. The winners' will also be awarded with cash prize.

BSPA president Razwan-uz-zaman Rajib disclosed the names of the nominated persons at a press conference held at Bangladesh Olympic Association Auditorium today (Monday).

Square Toiletries Limited GM marketing Dr. Jesmin Zaman, BSPA general secretary and player selection committee’s chairman  Sudipto Ananda, and outgoing general secretary Samon Hossain were also present in the press conference.

Notably, this is the 11th time that Square Toiletries Limited has sponsored the prestigious award ceremony.

Bangladesh Sports Press Association (BSPA), the oldest sports organisation of the country, introduced the first sports award in the country in 1964.
