DHAKA, May 6, 2026 (BSS) - A number of Bangladesh players have risen in ICC T20 rankings following an impressive performance in the recently concluded three-match T20 series against New Zealand at home.
Middle order batter Towhid Hridoy is the biggest gainer as he climbed two places to sit at 37th among batters. Hridoy was named Player of the Series after scoring 84 runs across two innings. He made a half-century in the first match and added 33 runs in the third game after the second T20I was abandoned due to rain.
Bangladesh T20 captain Liton Das has also made progress in the rankings. After scoring 26 runs in the final match in Mirpur, Liton has moved up one spot and is now ranked 52nd in the T20I batting list.
India opener Abhishek Sharma continues to lead the rankings, maintaining his position at the top.
Bangladesh bowlers have also been rewarded for their performances in the series. Spinner Mahedi Hasan has moved up one place to 17th in the T20I bowling rankings after delivering consistent spells.
The biggest improvement, however, came from left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam, who jumped nine places to 54th following economical and impactful bowling during crucial phases of the series.
Left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman slipped one place to 12th after missing the New Zealand series.
Among New Zealand bowlers, Ben Sears climbed 10 places to 51st, while leg-spinner Ish Sodhi rose four spots to 88th. Sodhi, who has taken 165 wickets in T20Is, remains New Zealand's leading wicket-taker in the format.
