DHAKA, Apr 20, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh women's hockey team left Dhaka early today for Jakarta to participate in the Women's Asian Games Qualifying Hockey Tournament, scheduled to be held in Indonesia from April 23 to 29.
This marks the first time Bangladesh women's hockey team will compete in the qualifying tournament.
Bangladesh have been placed in Group A along with Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan and Hong Kong. They will play their opening match against Chinese Taipei on April 23, before facing Uzbekistan on April 24 and Hong Kong on April 26.
The top four teams from the qualifiers will secure spots in the final round of the Asian Games, which is scheduled to be held in Japan in September.
The squad comprises -- Goalkeepers: Mohua, Himadri Barua and Sukh , Defenders -- Neeladri Barua Neel, Riyasha Aktar Rishi, Ninisen Rakhain, Tonni Khatun, Dhanuching Marma and Ritu Akter , Midfielders -- Nadira, Fardia Akter Ratry, Sharika Safa Rimon, Orpita Pal (captain) and Fatema Tuzzohora , Forwards -- Airin Akter Riya, Nadira Talukdar Ema, Kona Akter, Jakia Afroz Lima and Sanjida Akter Moni.
