DHAKA, April 9, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has revised
the match schedule for the upcoming white-ball series against the New Zealand
national cricket team in line with the government's energy conservation
measures.
New Zealand are scheduled to play three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and
three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) during their tour of Bangladesh. The
ODI series was initially planned as day-night fixtures starting at 3:00 PM,
while the T20Is were set to begin at 6:00 PM.
According to the updated itinerary, all matches will now be held during
daytime hours. The ODIs will commence at 11:00 AM, while the T20Is will start
at 2:00 PM.
The decision follows a meeting held on Wednesday night. BCB ad hoc committee
chief Tamim Iqbal confirmed that the timings will be adjusted to align with
the government's initiative aimed at reducing electricity consumption,
particularly by limiting the use of floodlights.
The move is expected to contribute to nationwide efforts to manage energy
demand more efficiently.
New Zealand will play the first two ODIs in Dhaka on April 17 and 20, and the
third ODI in Chattogram on April 23. The first two T20Is will be played in
Chattogram on April 27 and 29 and the final T20I will be in Dhaka on May 2.
