DHAKA, April 09, 2026 (BSS) - Prime Bank National School Cricket 2025-2026 season has officially been launched today, aiming to further bolster grassroots cricket across the country.
This year’s edition features participation from more than 8,500 cricketers representing 350 schools across all 64 districts.
A total of 651 matches are scheduled, with district-level competitions set to begin tomorrow (Friday), followed by divisional and national rounds.
Prime Bank has been sponsoring the school cricket tournament since 2015, contributing to the development of young cricketing talent nationwide.
Marking the occasion, a press conference and jersey unveiling ceremony was held today at the BCB Media Center in Dhaka.
Among those present were Prime Bank PLC Additional Managing Director Md. Nazim A. Chowdhury and Senior Assistant Vice President and Head of Brand and Communications Syed Raihan Tariq.
Representing the BCB were former national team captain and chief selector Habibul Bashar Suman and current Test captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto. National team batter Towhid Hridoy, a product of school cricket, also attended the event.
Speaking at the event Nazim A. Chowdhury said several cricketers who emerged from school cricket have gone on to represent Bangladesh at the highest level, describing it as a matter of pride.
He emphasized the importance of grassroots development in the overall progress of cricket and expressed Prime Bank’s continued commitment to the initiative.
Since its inception in 2015, the tournament has seen participation from 3,507 schools, with 76,235 cricketers competing in 6,195 matches nationwide, making it one of the largest cricket platforms in the country.
In addition to organizing the tournament, Prime Bank PLC has been awarding scholarships to promising players selected by BCB’s age-group selectors. This year, the number of scholarships has been increased from 15 to 25, while the annual stipend has been doubled from Taka 60,000 to Taka 120,000 per player.
