Liton, Saif star in Dhumketu's facile win in Odommo T20

DHAKA, Feb 5, 2026 (BSS)- Opener Saif Hasan and captain Liton Das struck fluent half-centuries as Dhumketu XI thrashed Duronto XI by six wickets in
the opening match of the Odommo Bangladesh T20 Cup at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today.

With Bangladesh set to miss this year's ICC Men's T20 World Cup due to security concerns in India, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) arranged the tournament to ensure national cricketers remain competitive and active.

Three teams - Dhumketu XI, Durbar XI and Duronto XI - are taking part in the tournament, which features total prize money and player fees worth Tk 2.5 crore.

Leg-spinner Rishad Hossain, playing his first match in Bangladesh since featuring in the Big Bash League in Australia, returned impressive figures of
3-21 with a superb spell of spin bowling to help bundle Duronto XI out for just 143 in 19.5 overs.

Liton led the chase with an unbeaten 65 off 43 balls, while Saif Hasan blasted a 30-ball 50 to guide Dhumketu to victory at 146-4 in just 16.1 overs.

Opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim made a brisk 17 off eight balls before being dismissed by pacer Ripon Mondol. Liton and Saif then put Dhumketu firmly in control with a 78-run partnership for the second wicket.

SM Meherob Hossain broke the stand by dismissing Saif when Dhumketu needed just 32 more runs. Meherob struck again to remove Parvez Hossain Emon and
Towhid Hridoy for single-digit scores, finishing with 3-23 to briefly reduce the margin of defeat.

Liton, however, remained composed and steered the side home comfortably despite Meherob's late burst.

Earlier, pacers Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Shoriful Islam picked up two wickets apiece to complement Rishad's brilliance, derailing the Duronto innings after they were put in to bat first.

Duronto XI, largely made up of Under-19 players, struggled to show resilience against the disciplined bowling attack.

Opener Mahfijul Islam Robin top-scored with 39 off 36 balls, hitting six boundaries. His fellow opener Jishan Alam made a boundary-filled start but failed to convert it, falling to Tanzim.

Jishan's dismissal slowed Duronto's progress considerably, although Robin held the innings together. However, regular wickets at the other end denied them any real chance of posting a challenging total.

Skipper Akbar Ali was the next-best scorer with 18, while Azizul Hakim Tamim contributed 16.
