Shadman set to return to BPL with Chattogram

DHAKA, Dec 28, 2025 (BSS) - Opener Shadman Islam is all set to make his return
to the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) after a gap since the 2019-20 season.

The Chattogram Royals have roped in Shadman, who is considered as Test
specialist but has been in excellent form in the shorter formats recently.

In the National Cricket League (NC) T20, Shadman scored 192 runs in six
matches at an impressive strike rate of 151.18. His standout performance came
when he slammed a blistering 101 runs against Barishal Division.

In addition, Shadman made 469 runs in 11 matches for Agrani Bank in the Dhaka
Premier League (DPL), a prestigious 50-over tournament in Dhaka.

Despite such strong domestic performances, Shadman went unsold in the BPL
auction. However, just two days into the tournament, Chattogram Royals
decided to sign him.

This season, Shadman will be playing in BPL again after stints with Dhaka
Dynamites, Chattogram Challengers, and Rangpur Rangers. He is scheduled to
join the team on December 30.

Apart from Shadman, Chattogram Royals have signed three foreign cricketers in
Pakistan's Asif Ali, Amer Jamal, and Hasan Nawaz.

Due to a shortage of foreign players, Chattogram fielded just two foreign
cricketers-Mirza Tahir Baig and Masud Gurbaz-in their opening match. Despite
this, they started their campaign with a dominant 65-run victory over
Noakhali Express.

Asif Ali and Amer Jamal both bring BPL experience, with the former previously
played for Dhaka Platoon in 2020 while the latter played in Comilla
Victorians, and Khulna Tigers.

Hasan Nawaz, however, will be making his BPL debut. Chattogram's next match
is against Rangpur Riders on December 29.
