Sylhet overcome Rana hattrick to beat Noakhali

DHAKA, Dec 28, 2025 (BSS) - Sylhet Titans overcame a brilliant hattrick of
pacer Mehedi Hasan Rana to secure a one-wicket victory against Noakhali
Express in a nail-biting Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) game at Sylhet
International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

Noakhali managed to put up 143-7 after being sent to bat first and Mehedi
Rana defended it almost but Sylhet lower order batters held the nerve in the
crunch moment to help the side get over the line in the last ball of the
match.

Only four Sylhet batters reached double digits with Parvez Hossain Emon
making team-best 60 off 41 with six fours and two sixes.

Emon's 83-run partnership with captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz for the fourth
wicket appeared to take the side to a facile victory but the dismissal of him
in the 16th over sparked the collapse.

After Zahir Khan sent back Emon, Rana claimed his hat-trick, dismissing Miraz
for 33, Nasum Ahmed and Khaled Ahmed in the last three balls of 18th over
that left Sylhet a requirement of 19 runs in the last two overs.

Mehedi Rana finished with the figures of 4-34 in four overs.

Ethan Brooks made 13 ball-16 to edge the side closer to victory before he was
dismissed in the penultimate delivery as the score was level. Mohmmad Amir
then took a single in the last ball to guide the side home as Sylhet secured
its first victory in the tournament.

Earlier, fast bowler Syed Khaled Ahmed claimed 4-23 to help Sylhet Titans
restrict Noakhali Express for a modest total.

Khaled grabbed two wickets after sharing the new ball with Pakistan recruit
Mohammad Amir to trigger a top-order collapse of Noakhali, which saw them
reeled to nine runs for three wickets.

Mahidul Islam Ankon held together Noakhali, hitting a stubborn 51 ball-61 not
out with one four and three sixes.

He shared two important partnerships to take the side closer to 150-run mark-
a 32-run with captain Shykat Ali (24) that steadied the innings after an
initial collapse and a 66-run with Jaker Ali Anik for the sixth wicket.

Jaker Ali hinted at getting back to form with 29 off 17.
Saim Ayub picked up 2-25 and Amir bagged 1-25 to complement Khaled's effort.
