DHAKA, Dec 23, 2025 (BSS) - Noakhali Express wicketkeeper-batter Mahidul Islam Ankon stressed the importance of playing as a unit to achieve the desired results in the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
Speaking to reporters, Ankon emphasized that individual performances alone will not be enough in a tough tournament like the BPL.
“Everyone's goal is to become the champion. But, I think it’s important to play well-organized cricket as a team from the start and ensure that everyone performs to the best of their ability," he said.
“Winning every match is crucial. There’s no room for relaxation,” Ankon added.
Ankon also expressed his eagerness to contribute as much as possible, particularly by batting at the top of the order.
However, he made it clear that he would be flexible and follow the team management’s strategy regarding his batting position.
"In T20 cricket, the batting order—whether it's the middle or lower order—can change based on the match situation," he explained.
"So, my personal preference is secondary. I could come in earlier or later depending on what the team needs. We all will play according to the team’s plan."
Mohammad Nabi, one of the most experienced foreign players in the Noakhali squad, will join the team after his stint in the IL T20 League.
Ankon expressed excitement about Nabi’s inclusion, recognizing the benefits of having such an experienced cricketer in the team.
“His inclusion will benefit us in many ways," Ankon said. "Nabi has been playing T20 cricket for years and has vast experience in the BPL. I hope his experience will help us play good cricket as a team.”
