DHAKA, Dec 20, 2025 (BSS)— Veteran cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim will take on the wicket-keeping duties for Rajshahi Warriors in the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20, which is set to begin on December 26. 

Although Mushfiqur has been playing primarily as a batter recently, Rajshahi took the decision to bring him back as a wicket-keeper despite picking up wicket-keepers like Akbar Ali and Shakhir Hossain Shuvo, who were expected to take on the role.

However, Rajshahi head coach Hannan Sarkar confirmed that Mushfiqur will indeed keep wickets. "We’ve decided that Mushfiq will keep, and Akbar will field," Hannan said after Rajshahi's first training session at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. 

"I spoke to Mushfiqur and Shanto who also spoke to him the day after we picked him at the auction. Our team management also talked to him. Mushfiq took the matter very positively. He feels at home playing for Rajshahi because it's close to his hometown, Bogra. So, he will be representing Rajshahi as a player from Bogra."
