RAJSHAHI, Dec 18, 2025 (BSS) - Divisional-level Inter-college Football Tournament 2025 organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports began here today through a colourful opening ceremony.
 
Commissioner of Rajshahi division Dr ANM Bazlur Rashid opened the tournament at Liberation War Memorial Stadium by releasing balloons and festoons in the sky this morning as chief guest.

In the five-day tournament, top-ranking 16 college teams from all eight districts of the division are taking part. 

Deputy Inspector General of Police Dr Muhammad Shahjahan, Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Dr Zillur Rahman and Additional Commissioners of Rajshahi division Rezaul Alam Sarker and Habibur Rahman were present on the occasion.

The tournament is being held on a knockout basis at two venues-Rajshahi Freedom Fighters Memorial Stadium and the Government Physical Education College playground, until December 22.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Dr Bazlur Rashid expressed hope that the tournament would provide a significant platform for young players. 

"We aim to conduct the tournament with disciplined management and in a festive spirit," he said.
