Bangladesh U19 leaves country targeting Asia Cup hat-trick title

DHAKA, Dec 10, 2025 (BSS)-The Bangladesh Under-19 squad has left the country today for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to claim a historic hat-trick of titles in the upcoming Asia Cup Under-19 tournament.

The regional tournament for the youth is scheduled to begin on December 12.

The Bangladesh squad was supposed to fly out at 9:50 AM today, but their departure was delayed before they finally left Dhaka at 11:30 AM.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had already announced a 15-member squad for the tournament, led by captain Azizul Hakim Tamim.

In-form fast bowler Al Fahad was ruled out due to injury, while Debashish Sarkar, who played in the previous series, was dropped and was replaced by off-spinner Sheikh Parvez Jibon.

Bangladesh will enter the tournament as favourites to secure a third title on the trot, having won the last two editions.

Furthermore, the Bangladesh U19 side has been in tremendous form of late, winning some bilateral series in recent months.

Captain Azizul Hakim Tamim believes this consistency will boost their confidence in the UAE.

"We have won almost every series, and the last few ended in draws. We haven't lost a series recently, which is why we are confident about our chance," Hakim told the reporters before departing the country. "We believe we can achieve something good, InshaAllah."
