DHAKA, Dec 9, 2025 (BSS)-PWD made winning start in the Federation Cup Football beating Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club by 2-0 goals in their group A match held at Bashundhara Kings arena in the capital today (Tuesday).
In the day’s match, Uzbek forward Akobir Turaev and midfielder M Sharif scored one goal each in both halves for PWD who led the first half by 1-0 goal.
Akobir Turaev opened account scoring the first goal for PWD converting a spot kick in the 37th minute.
After the breather, M Sharif sealed the victory scoring the second goal for PWD in the 65th minute of the match.
Fakirerpool, who lost to Abahani Limited by 4-2 goals in their group opening match, tried their best to stage a fight back in the match, but they could not score any in the remaining proceeding and eventually they had to leave the field with empty hand.
With this win, PWD opened their account with three points from one match while Fakirerpool is yet to open their account playing two matches.
Ten teams of Bangladesh Football League, split into two groups, are participating in the Federation Cup. The two champions and runners-up from each group will play in the next round. The Federation Cup is played on every Tuesdays of the week.
