DHAKA, Dec 9, 2025 (BSS)- Rangpur completed a rare double, adding the National Cricket League's (NCL) longer-version title to the NCL T20 trophy they won last October. They are the first team to hold both NCL trophies in different formats.
They also reclaimed the longer version title for the first time since the 2022-23 season, a success that further solidifies their growing dominance in Bangladesh's domestic cricket scene.
Sylhet were the favorites to win the title this season, having topped the table in the final round, while Rangpur started the round in third position.
Rangpur's chances of reclaiming the title looked slim after they conceded a 134-run first-innings lead as they were bowled out for just 174 in response to Khulna's 308.
But then came the magic. Rangpur's bowlers regrouped brilliantly to dismiss Khulna for just 96 runs in their second innings, setting a target of 231 for victory.
Rangpur didn't make any mistakes in the chase, completing a seven-wicket win inside three days.
However, the celebrations were put on hold as Sylhet's match against Barishal was still ongoing.
If Sylhet had won, they would've been crowned champions for the second consecutive year. But they were forced to settle for a draw, allowing Rangpur to claim the title.
Rangpur earned 31 points to secure the championship, while Sylhet finished with 28 points. Mymensingh finished third in its debut season, and Khulna ended fourth. Barishal, Chattogram, Dhaka, and Rajshahi finished in the bottom four spots.
