DHAKA, Dec 2, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim inscribed his
name into the record book after taking five catches as a fielder during his
side series-deciding third T20 International against Ireland at the Bir
Shrestha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Motiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram today.
By doing so, he became the first cricketer (non wicket-keeper) from a Test
nation to take five catches in a T20 International match.
Wedage Janaka Malinda from the Maldives and Sweden's Sedk Sahak were other
two cricketers who earlier took five catches in a T20 match but neither of
them was from a full Test nation country.
There were plenty of cricketers from the full Test nation who took the
highest four catches in a match with West Indies Darren Sammy, India's
Ajinkya Rahana, Sri Lanka's Dines Chandimal, New Zealand's Corey Anderson,
South Africa's David Miller are the notable names.
For Bangladesh, the number of previous highest catches in a T20 match was
three and 11 fielders had achieved that feat.
